Creative Golf Design were named as the winners for the Renovation of the Year 2014 award, in the under $1m category, by Golf Inc Magazine for their work at Moortown Golf Club in Leeds, UK. This very historic golf course, opened in 1909, was only the second design by the world-renowned golf architect Dr Alister MacKenzie who later went on to design classics such as Augusta National, Royal Melbourne and Cypress Point. CGD were entrusted to restore some of the historic features of the course while introducing new bunkering where required, in a sympathetic style, to maintain the challenge of this championship course. Moortown hosted the Ryder Cup in 1929, has held many top amateur events including the English Amateur Championship and Brabazon Trophy, and is an Open Qualifying venue.
