Project Details

The design of a new PGA European Tour standard championship golf course for Countryside Properties, and the integration of around 500 housing units and a hotel. The course has held a number of Euro Pro Tour events since it opened in 2002. The project involved complex construction techniques including building two holes on soft peaty soils, harvesting water run-off for irrigation purposes, and preserving protected species such as freshwater crayfish, badgers and water voles. New lakes were built to attenuate drainage water from the surrounding housing areas and flood protection structures installed. Ken Moodie, Principal Architect for CGD, designed the course and managed the project on behalf of Hawtree Ltd.
